New Patients on Salt Spring Island

At Gulf Islands Chiropractic, we use a two-visit onboarding process for all new patients. This ensures that every patient receives a thorough assessment before treatment recommendations are made, allowing Dr. Travis to create a care plan that is tailored to their specific needs.

Day 1 – Initial Examination & Consultation

Duration: 60 minutes

Fee: $130

The purpose of the first visit is to understand what is causing the problem, rather than simply treating symptoms.

During this appointment, Dr. Travis will:

Review your health history and current concerns.
Discuss your goals for care.
Perform a comprehensive chiropractic examination.
Assess posture, movement, range of motion, and joint function.
Take digital postural measurements and photos if clinically indicated.
Determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate or whether further investigation or referral is needed.

At the end of the appointment, Dr. Travis will review all of the findings before making treatment recommendations. Treatment is not performed on Day 1 so that your examination can be properly analyzed and an individualized care plan can be developed.

Day 2 – Report of Findings & First Treatment

Duration: 30 minutes

Fee: $120

This appointment is typically booked within the same week as your initial examination.

During this visit, Dr. Travis will:

Explain the results of your examination in easy-to-understand terms.
Review what is contributing to your symptoms.
Discuss your diagnosis and prognosis.
Recommend the most appropriate treatment plan based on your goals.
Answer any questions you may have about your condition or recommended care.
Perform your first chiropractic treatment/adjustment, if clinically appropriate and you choose to proceed.

By separating the examination from the first treatment, you'll have a clear understanding of:

What was found during your assessment.
Why you're experiencing your symptoms.
What treatment options are available.
What to expect throughout your care.

This approach allows you to make an informed decision about your treatment and ensures your care plan is based on a thorough evaluation rather than symptoms alone.

Reactivations on Salt Spring Island

Book a Treatment

If you're a Salt Spring patient who previously received care from Dr. Ross Richardson or Dr. Logan Smythe, please let our team know when booking your appointment, or simply book yourself in for a Reactivation Appointment.

Dr. Travis has taken over their chiropractic care, and your previous patient records have been transferred to our clinic. This allows him to review your health history and continue your care without requiring you to complete the full new patient process again.

A Reactivation Appointment is designed for patients returning to care after an extended break, experiencing a new injury or concern, or looking to restart chiropractic treatment. This appointment allows Dr. Travis to review your current concerns, reassess your condition, and determine the most appropriate approach for your care.

Day 1 – Reactivation Consultation & First Treatment

Duration: 40 minutes

Fee: $180

The purpose of the first visit is to understand your current concerns, reassess your condition, and establish a new baseline for your care.

During this appointment, Dr. Travis will:

Review your previous chiropractic records, health history and current concerns.
Discuss your goals for care.
Perform a comprehensive chiropractic examination.
Assess posture, movement, range of motion, and joint function.
Take digital postural measurements and photos if clinically indicated.
Provide your first chiropractic adjustment/treatment

At the end of the appointment, Dr. Travis will review the initial findings and gather the information needed to develop an individualized care plan.

Day 2 – Report of Findings

Duration: 20 minutes

Fee: $120

This appointment is typically booked a week after your first appointment.

During this visit, Dr. Travis will:

Explain the results of your examination in easy-to-understand terms.
Review what is contributing to your symptoms.
Discuss your diagnosis and prognosis.
Recommend the most appropriate treatment plan based on your goals.
Answer any questions you may have about your condition or recommended care.
Perform your second chiropractic treatment/adjustment.

By completing a Reactivation Appointment process, you will have a clear understanding of your current condition, where you are starting from, and the recommended steps to help you move forward.

New Patients on Pender, Mayne & Galiano

Gulf Islands Chiropractic is proud to bring chiropractic care to our surrounding island communities. Because Dr. Travis visits Pender, Mayne, and Galiano Islands on scheduled clinic days, the booking process is a little different than our Salt Spring Island location.

When booking online or contacting our team, please ensure you select the correct island location so we can place you into the appropriate schedule.

Initial Chiropractic Visit: Assessment & Consultation + Treatment

Duration: 45 minutes

Fee: $200

Your first appointment on Pender, Mayne, or Galiano Island is focused on understanding your health history, your current concerns, and determining the best approach for your care.

During this appointment, Dr. Travis will:

Review your health history and current symptoms.
Discuss your goals and what you would like to improve.
Perform a chiropractic assessment, including movement, range of motion, and orthopedic testing when appropriate.
Evaluate your spine, joints, muscles, and nervous system function.
Determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate for your condition.
Discuss initial recommendations and next steps.

Due to the limited availability of island clinic days, your first visit and first treatment will be combined into the same appointment when clinically appropriate. Dr. Travis will discuss his findings with you and determine the best course of action based on your individual needs.

If you are a Pender Island patient who previously saw Dr. Penny Paterson, please let our team know when booking your appointment.

Dr. Travis has taken over chiropractic care for Pender Island patients following Dr. Penny Paterson’s retirement from active practice. Previous patient records have been transferred, allowing Dr. Travis to review your history and continue your care without requiring you to complete the full new patient process again.
